B Pennsylvania Volunteers on November 7, 1862 and served until July 28, 1863. Daniel Sr. served in the same company as his daughter in laws' father Charles Garver Bortner.
Daniel died January 18, 1892 leaving Emma to raised their children. Emma remarried carpenter and machinist Johnson McLean Spahr in 1897.
