3 Justin Monroe Strevig was born March 3, 1875 in York, Pennsylvania. Early on he was a machinist at an agricultural machine factory and was later a monotype operator for the newspaper. Justin enlisted with the 8th Pennsylvania Infantry Co. A in 1899 during the Spanish American War. He married Mary Alma Miller on March 19, 1902. She was a daughter of farmer John Miller and Anna Hare and was born in June 1871 in Carroll County, Maryland. Justin and Alma moved to Florida where their only child was born, then moved to Baltimore before finally settling in Louisville, Kentucky.
