Charles was a superintendent at the York Motor Car Company that manufactured the 6 wheeled Pullman car and was a machinist after the automobile company went bankrupt in 1917. He was the son of carpet weaver Samuel "Sammie" Schwartz and Mary Catherine Gotwalt and was born April 6, 1878 in Des Moines, Iowa. Charles' father Samuel enlisted with the 200th Infantry Co. A Pennsylvania Volunteers on August 23, 1864. Sammie suffered a serious contusion on his back when he was struck by a shell fragment at the battle of Fort Stedman March 25, 1865.

14 Bertha Ann Rohrbaugh was born November 23, 1884 in Codorus, York, Pennsylvania. She married house carpenter and floor layer Jacob Franklin Bose March 26, 1910. He was a son of Samuel Bose and Elizabeth Sipe and was born September 12, 1885 in York, Pennsylvania. His father Samuel Bose enlisted in the 210th Infantry Co. C Pennsylvania Volunteers on September 10, 1864. Samuel was involved with the Appomattox Campaign and saw action at the battles of Boydton Plank Road, Hatcher's Run, Lewis Farm near Gravelly Run and was present at the surrender of Lee.
