Lucy Bortner married George Washington Steffey in 1849. Lucy was the second daughter to Jacob and Catherine. Out of the seven children she raised, 6 of them were daughters. And just like her mother Catherine, she would never see the death of any of hers. She also was the first child of Jacob and Catherine to pass at 68 years in 1892. Her husband George Steffey was a farmer. They owned a farm and lived next to Lucy's older brothers Lewis and Daniel in Codorus. George had become a weaver not long after the Civil War closed. He sold his land in 1879 and the family except for their daughters, Ellen and Lovina, moved to Johnsville in Morrow County, Ohio.
